How could the Java language be changed in favour of game-developers? Any ideas?
I think you only need robust APIs (LWJGL, JOGL+JOAL+etc) to be able to make games in the same way you’d do in any other language.
The main point in my argument is that Sun should really consider if their attitude may be hurtful at times.
For example, if escape analysis wasn’t available, and the only way you could implement stack based classes was to implement C++ structs, would you change the language to reflect structs?
I can understand that by introducing new language features you are making the language more complex, but if people need the feature and Sun kept saying “no”, how would that reflect on game development in Java?
This is just an example, don’t take my example literally.
Just take the point I’m making literally.

Surely SUN have to weigh up what different people “need” from the language and make decisions based on that and the direction the language was intended to go in.
Since Java is used in so many places these days the weighing up is always going to be tricky and so areas are always going to lose out.
Identifing the difference between a need and a want is also always going to be tricky.
