mini2Dx - inspired by Slick2D, built on libGDX

http://mini2dx.org/

Just found this, why haven’t I seen it before?
Looks to be the successor to Slick, for instance here is sample rendering code, in the J2D-ish style.
Also has BasicGame, etc.

It’s not super mature it seems, and it’s not 1.0 yet, but I thought I’d share as it’s relevant to some people’s interests here I expect.
If there is a better board for this topic then go ahead and move it.

huh, it must be brand new. (or not well advertised) I’ve never heard of it before either.

EDIT: Judging by their reddit, they seem to be about 6-7 months old, at least, they’ve been public that long;

0.8 release on github is dated Feb 2013, so it’s at least ~1.5 years old.

oh wow, maybe they just started advertising semi-recently then. Hmm. Guess we’ll see how it turns out in the long run, it looks interesting. Although if they want wide spread exposure/appeal they’ll need to figure out how to improve upon what Slick2D and Lib does. That looks like their goal, guess we’ll see if they pull through.

The setup is a bit lengthy but other than that I’m actually having an enjoyable time using it. Hopefully I’ll actually release a game finally…hopefully…maybe.

I always found LibGDX to be a bit overwhelming. Glad to see these guys took it and made it much simpler to use.

Good find!
