Minecraft - ever server saying 'Timed Out'

(Sorry for asking here but my dad doesn’t allow me to get a minecraft forums account because he thinks I am getting too many accounts for too many forums and I have already asked yahoo answers with no reply)

I know what ‘Timed Out’ means but I have checked everything:

  • not the computer, other games work fine
  • not the server im using, other servers have the problem
  • not the firewall (tried turning it completely off)
  • not the router (we don’t have any firewalls on that)
  • not the over-network usage (I have checked all computers and they use nothing, I have even checked my computer)
  • not ping, checked with command prompt:

But the weird thing is that sometimes it works beautifully without any problems while other times it just goes down hill up to the point where as soon as i connect it times out soon after… But all the servers I have are synced… They will all be working fine then suddenly - bam! they are junk and I can’t even do anything but wait until it gets better again…

Has anybody experienced this before? And does anybody know how to fix it?

I have countless accounts on countless websites, I don’t see the issue there. I mean, as long as you don’t share too much personal information it’s quite safe.

It means it took to long for the server to respond to your client. If it’s working on your command prompt, maybe run it with admin privileges? ( Really desperate here )

At this point, just take it up with your ISP, they’re probably the ones behind it.

There’s a really really good chance it’s the executable itself. So minecraft forums should be able to help you out if you can get an account.

According to a quick google search… ISP is where the internet comes from?

But it has nothing to do with that because everything else that works internet is fine…

They’re the people giving you service. ex. Bell, Comcast, Eastlink… And they might not allot certain outgoing packets or something, I don’t know much about networking… But give them a call and tell them you’re game’s server is timing out, but only in that executable, and everything else works fine.

Knowing most ISPs they’ll tell you you’ll need a new plan or something.

But like a said… sometimes it works perfectly… sometimes it works horribly (ATM, it is working horribly… i am waiting for it to get good again)… and all the servers are insync… They all work fine, then they go horribly…

(also, it isnt my server… I am trying: Lichcraft, Craftgasm and Zombie Horde)

May I ask why you even ask him to? That should really not be his concern…

Be a rebel. Really though, as long as you are not going on some dodgy chat rooms and teasing pedos I don’t see the problem but hey ho, each to their own.

Well, this is nothing about being a good child but purely ridiculous.

I say if you’re over the age of fourteen, you can decide for yourself for making a new forum account.

Idk if it will help, but maybe try port forwarding?

Two things:

  1. I can’t do it know after getting an answer of ‘no’
  2. I am not the one hosting the server so I don’t think port forwarding would do anything…

I don’t think it has anything to do with connection problems cause even at the best connection, I can still connect and sometimes some things come through… Could it just be buffering up somewhere? Maybe too many incoming messages that are going into a queue somewhere on my computer or the router? Could that be possible?

Just a few things which may or may not help:

  • only gets bad near night time (I thought it was too many people on server but it doesn’t explain why the servers are synced in such a way)
  • it’s only incoming messages getting stopped, I can still send messages before i time out
  • could be buffering as sometimes nothing happens and I think I am about to time out then suddenly I get a lot of messages and what seems to be position updates (I get teleported to a certain position a lot of times)
