Meganoid - Grandpa’s chronicles! - Orangepixel

200 levels of torturous platforming is ready for you!

With a brilliant sound track done by Gavin Harrison, I hope you’ll have a couple of hours of gameplay fun with this.
After my first steps to desktop gaming with the Heroes of Loot beta, it’s now time to take a big step and release a first full desktop game.

The game is very simple to play, left+right arrows and up,x or space to jump.
Use Alt+Enter to switch between fullscreen/windowed mode.

The game is a HARD ! The original Meganoid was often compared to Super Meat boy, and this sequel is not made easier :stuck_out_tongue:

Another one already!? It seems like you just released Heroes of Loot! Man, I was I could code/art as fast as you apparently can.

The original Meganoid2 was already done for android and iphone with 80 levels and released long before Heroes of Loot… so porting it to desktop and adding the new stuff wasn’t month’s of work

Oh sorry I completely misunderstood. I thought you made this game since then xD

that would have been very fast  I’m still working on the full version of Heroes of Loot!

Shoot! haven’t even finished Meganoid 2 yet D:

Really liking this a lot  Great work.

Quick comment though regarding the start of the game: In Level 2, you need to double jump to get the golden idol and not fall on the spikes below… but you’re only told that you can double jump in Level 3. So, the player actually has to figure out the double-jump by themselves while playing Level 2. I just think that’s odd. Maybe it would be better to switch Level 2 and 3.

Just a suggestion

EDIT: errrrr… nevermind :stuck_out_tongue: I just realized I could only jump once to finish Level 2. Haha. But for what it’s worth, I think it’s very likely that the player finds out that a double-jump is possible before Level 3. Hehe.

it’s not a problem if people learn things faster  it does get explained for those that don’t !

You still are’nt finished? I thought it was done! I played it a half an hour, and had to go. That game is awesome! What else could you add?

lot’s of fine tuning, adding extra monsters, couple of rare items, etc
just uploaded a new gameplay video of the latest build (non public) played on Ouya -

I get that. The current version is awesome as is, so I can’t wait to see what you have in store.

Really a cool little game. It’s hard but not frustrating and has great retro charme. Congratz. I like meganoid a lot and will try the other games too.
