Magicosm (formerly Cosm)

I havent been in this forum for quite a while since my focus has moved away from java programming and toward game design and art on the Magicosm project (formerly Cosm). I was posting here as far back as the first month when it opened, using a different name though.

I just noticed SWPalmer’s mention in the FI Racer thread that he hasnt seen a demo of Magicosm. Of course that was written last year  In Jan this year we started using Extreme Programming and we are trying to get a very rough product put together for testers to mess around with. Because “User Story: Users want to test something” :). We hope to have something useful by the fall 2003.

So if you want to see something, drop by the forum and leave a message. Send Dave Y or Bobby an email or PM on the forum with your email so we can let people know when its ready. We are lookng for testers then, we hand pick them and people need to fill out a form. We have invited just a handful so far and wont really begin inviting more until we are closer to the date.

I almost posted this in the F1 thread but realised, uhm… no.

(Yes there are two Daves)

Nice site, and good job on keeping the project going for such a long time. Sounds like you guys will be putting a lot more thought into the game mechanics than some companies I could name.

Er, I would send an email to put my naem on the list of volunteer testers, but I can’t find any email addresses on the magicosm site!

[I wish a port of Java 3D would show up soon for Mac OS X… I would love to try Magicosm on my Powerbook.]

The two lead programmers have an absolute dedication to the project. Other people have come and gone, but the project continues

We dont have an official sign up yet. We just picked people out of the forums.
You can use this email (from the recruitment page):

bobbymartin@pobox.com

Bobby is the team leader so he should know were the list is.

We do plan on supporting Mac in the future since the project is 100% java. You could be our Mac tester  I dont think anyone on the team has one.

Good point!

I just sent a message to the team that we need a “Contact” page.

Sorry excuse #28: “We are not really in full out promotional mode, we have a lot of work to do still.”
