LWJGL on Mac OS X (Donation Drive)

The initial Max OS X port was made by Elias on a Mac we borrowed.
With the limited time in hand Elias successfully created a Mac port
(although somewhat crippled). As some of you may know, we have since
then tried many times to get Mac developers to join the team. So far
we have met with limited success. In order to fix the LWJGL Mac port we need
to have a dedicated developer with a Mac willing to offer a lot of spare time.
To that end Elias (or actually the - soon to be - company Oddlabs that is currently working
on Tribal Trouble) has expressed a willingness to purchase a Mac and commit
to finally getting Mac OS X properly supported. As Elias has already proved
his skills, we see this as a very good solution.

However, as many of you know Mac hardware is rather pricey - which is why we
have decided to donate what is in the LWJGL donation fund (It was originally setup
to allow us to do whatever needed to get a Mac port going). We hope to increase
the fund to $1000 USD as fast as possible.

The fund currently holds $90.89 USD. Caspian Rychlik-Prince will
donate $400 (!) to the cause which means we’re already halfway! The sooner we reach
the $1000 mark, the sooner the Mac port can be finished!

This is your chance to help out with the LWJGL library! So dig deep

Should we increase this fund to more than $1000 the remaining money will be
kept in the fund, and used to help with creating new features (ie.
purchasing a controller to do the Force Feedback implementation), hosting on a
proper server or other LWJGL causes.

To donate to the LWJGL fund, follow this link:
http://sourceforge.net/donate/index.php?group_id=58488 (Paypal donation).

Note: 10% of all proceeds will go to EFF.
Should you wish to donate directly, without any proceeds going to EFF, you can
do so by sending money to the: brian@matzon.dk paypal account.

$100 USD on it’s way!

Thanks for helping to keep my dreams of being a game developer alive.

Keep up the good work.

Regards,

Andy.

Another $100 USD on it’s way from me and my brother Spasi.

Good luck with your efforts.

Apostolos

There’s $50 electromagically making it’s way to you now. Just wanted to say, in addition to the donation, thanks to all of you for the work and effort that has gone into this.

Bill

Going great actually - just having trouple pairing promised money with actually donated money (several donations have been anonymous) - and some seem to still be on it’s way

The purchase will be after the soon after the 1st of August, let people get their paychecks ;D - after that we’ll purchase it asap so the port can get on its way!

Yeah, I made a bit of a balls up, I donated the money to sourceforge.net by accident. It lost the LWJGL focus when I decided to log in to sourceforge.net

Anyway, I’m working on getting them to transfer it over to the correct project.

Regards,

Andy.

Can you let me know how that goes? I followed the link from here and donated at SF but I’m not sure if the money’s gone to the right place. It’s on my credit card though:) Listed as some ODSN type thing.

Anyway, I’d just like a confirmation that LWJGL got the money.

Cheers,

Bill

Yeah - I’d also llike to get a better view of promised money vs received money
Unfortunately the transactions from SF only have the amount, and some generic SF email as sender of money :frowning:
Therefore I can only confirm those that:
a) send directly to the fund (using brian@matzon.dk as paypal receiver)
b) make a comment which includes their name
c) are registered SF users so they are listed in the donations list on the project page.

I will try to sort something out later tonight…
I have yet to confirm any donations though - think I’ll do that tonight too

i am chatting to ‘sourceforge.net’ to see whats
going on- it seems if there system get upset money is
moved to there donations. not cool for us.

if anyone else wants to donate then send the paypal
directly to Matzon. less hassle that way i would bet.

hope i can get the lolly moved over to LWJGL

Yeah, you might have a point… At least when the donation goes directly to me, I can track who is donating and thank them.
Looking forward to your donation aNt
Going by current rate (and especially since it’s almost time for a paycheck) I think we will start very soon (Elias is on a two week vacation, so we at least have to wait that long).

hmm - out of curiosity - what IS http://www.tomato.co.uk/ ?
EDIT: doh- famed advertising company, right?
EDIT2: on second thought - looks like an AV production company ?

aNt, Let us know how you get along. I still haven’t heard back from either Sourceforge or PayPal regarding my misdirected payment.

I have raised a Donation Support Request with sourceforge my ticket number is 1000477, here are the details.

Andy.

You might want to post a small comment on that support request, that the actual SF project name is ‘java-game-lib’.

andy dude- yer i poped one support request in also, had
nothing back. if nothing happens by next week i will call
them and bleet on the phone :).

matzon- tomato is a design company. we make loads of
stuff mate :). sneek peak at the movie related stuff is
here: http://cherry.tomato.co.uk/ we are updating and
poping all new stuff online… arrrrr… loads of stuff :).
we built a ps2 game- but didnt like it so its over to
Java; maddness is my middle name

50$ from me to the project… I cant donate more since I am student

I just got a mail from the people at Sourceforge and Paypal, they’ve refunded the money back to my account, so I’ll try to donate again and hopfully not screw things up this time.

How/Where do I put a comment in my donation so that you can link the money with me? Or should I just do it through the www.lwjgl.org website instead?

Regards,

Andy.

Hmm, I also got my money back - took them 10 days or so!
yes, I fell for it too, even though I knew that I should make certain that I was donating to LWJGL and not SF grumble
Best way to do it is to either send it directly to brian@matzon.dk using paypal or be logged in on SF and make absolutely certain that you’re donating to LWJGL.
