LWJGL in Rimscape

Rimscape needs the option of running under LWJGL. I simply can’t do it on my own and I need someone with experience in it to undertake the effort of adding it into the game.

Starting offer: $150

I’m very willing to negotiate however from response I’ve gotten, the effort may only be worth $50 to some of you. But for me it’s worth paying for because this is very important to me and I’m very much in need of the help.

I’m looking now for all responses. If you won’t help, let me know why. If you are willing to help, then great, let’s start talking. I’m just frustrated with over a month of trying to get someone to respond and only getting one “no”. People have said, “ahh that’s totally easy” but no one who thinks so will help.

So please, take me seriously, I’ll do what I need to do to make it worth your time, and I AM going to pay SOMEONE to do this. I’ve had one person who I know nothing about say they’re capable and will take my money for it. However, I’d rather get someone from the group here because I feel like I can trust you guys. I’m totally serious about this, I’m not just throwing the idea of payment up because I’m ignorant. I’m seriously going to contract this work out to someone. Ideally it will be a frequenter of these forums because that’s what I feel most comfortable with.

I look forward now to a more direct response

Ok then, I might have a go at it. I need to look at the source first. I won’t touch it if the source is crap  Mail me at tombryntesen at tiscali dot no

email sent! Thanks for your interest

Just out of curiosity, What technologies are you currently using ?? Providing a smidgeon more info might pique other peoples interest a little more

To be honest I’ve only played rimscape for a short while before getting so frustrated with the UI that i had to quit. When the new GUI comes online i’ll definately give it a go because the actual gameplay elements that i saw were pretty good. Nice graphic quality too.

Best of luck.

Currently Rimscape is done in just Java2D. The current GUI was designed for PDA’s and cell phones. If you try the lowest resolution setting (120x120 I believe), you’ll see how that would look.

My designer and I have tried our best to make the system work on the large scale, too. While it can be pulled off and people can use it with a bit of initial confusion, we’ve decided that we should try to do away with that problem altogether by giving the option of a more Windows-like GUI that people would instantly understand. The problem with it is that Java2D would be WAY too slow to run the GUI. The only way I could bring it in would be to have someone do it along with the port to LWJGL.

tom has agreed to see what he can do. Hooray for tom!
