Looking for someone to handle the technical side

My favorite game, a word game, was never really marketed, and never caught on. Now, in the age of computer gaming, there is no reason why this couldn’t be made an online game, where you can log on and pick up players.

The thing is, I’m not a techie. I can turn my computer on, but that is about the extent of it.

What I propose is this, if someone is willing to take on the technical end, I’ll handle the business end. I am happy to do everything from working out a deal with the publisher, to finding advertisers to make the deal profitable.

Anyone interested can write templarborsail@yahoo.com.

You might want to specify some more details – like do you see this as a game that you would play in a browser, or something that you would download and play, or something you would play on a cell phone?

Do you have an idea of who the target player population would be? That would probably answer the question above…

Also, what makes you think the game will catch on now if it didn’t before? Is it only because it didn’t get exposed to a wide enough audience, or might there be problems with the gameplay that would need to be tweaked? Are there existing games out there already that are more-or-less the same game? Do you have the rights to make a commercial computer game based on an existing intellectual property?

I am not trying to be nasty – these are just the first questions anyone will likely have – especially potential publishers, who receive hundreds of game submissions per month. Like any business where you are trying to sell a product, you have to do your homework before trying to develop it.

All of these questions are moot, of course, if you are not trying to develop a commercial game but just want to do it as a hobby…

While I don’t have the personal bandwidth to help you myself, I wish you good luck!

Great questions.

I’m on my way. I am corresponding with a representative as U.S. Games Systems inc. They like the idea of seeing the game online, and are currently looking into whether they’d like me to pursue it further, or if they want to do it themselves.

The game is a word game, kind of a cross between scrabble and a card game.

The company has recently put another of their games online, and as I predicted it boosts sales of the actual cards.

I’m thinking of either Java or Flash as a medium for the game. I think the best option would be to have it played in a browser. Multi-user.

Why, am I looking forward to starting before I have the actual permission? So if they ask what my plan is, I actually have one.

Finally, this game, is the best word game I’ve ever played. The company that developed it was not a giant like matel or MB so the game was never marketed. But if it were, I have no doubt it would be a sucess.
