Link Exchange

Hi all,

I’m starting a link exchange for blogs and websites for Java developed games. The rule is you put the listing on your website or blog as listed below. The goal is some cross referencing and give more weight to the search engines. Please list before requesting.

Here is my sample list.

Format:

Name: Playful Minds
Link: http://www.playfulminds.com
List Proof: http://darrinadams.blogspot.com/search/label/Java%20Games

I don’t think it would hurt to do a mix of game portals and games.

Darrin

I don’t understand exactly what you’re proposing to do?

Sorry for not being clear.

Traffic to your website is generated several ways.

Ads
Link Exchange
Search Engines
Game Reviews
Word of Mouth

Your listing on a search engine like google will be weighted in part by the number of web sites that link to you. The more links the more likely someone will find yourgame.com.

This is just a link share. To participate, list what you want linked to and where you are linking back.

Your list will look something like:

site1
site2
site3
site4

etc.

Kind of like what I have here: http://darrinadams.blogspot.com/search/label/Java%20Games

The point is to drive traffic.

Yeah, I got that, I’m just wondering what you’re proposing. You want everybody to post links to each others’ sites?

Yeah I was planning on maintaining the list here.

All right. Well then I suggest putting very succinctly what you want everyone to do, then we can do it.

Don’t forget though that JGO already links to a lot of peoples’ websites via signatures, so putting a list of everyone’s site here won’t make a giant difference. If you’re specifically offering link exchanges for everyone’s site (like I link to yours you link to mine) then I’m sure at least a few people would be interested in that. Just make it clear exactly what you want everyone else to do.

Doesn’t the Google search algorithm detect cyclic references such as those generated by a link exchange and reduce their significance these days? They have done a lot of work on stopping people manipulating the search results.

It won’t hurt but it might not do as much good as you expect.

I agree with you and that is why I do not encourage the authors using my website to link to it even though this method was often used in Flash games websites some years ago.

Sorry Darrin, I have just found at least one dead link in your list.

Hehe, doesn’t really matter as not that many people seem keen on driving traffic in this manner. IMHO, seems like a no brainer to have people actually check out the games in any manner possible. It takes 5 minutes to put up a link and if it gets you a sale it was worth it.

I am in, i will add you right now
my Blog is http://only-video-games.blogspot.com/
it is not only for Java but most of the games and game development tutorials are for java
It warks only 6 days so i have a lot of content to add…

page rank detects cliques but it still increase tree structure
so this thing still works if you dont overdo it
