With the open sourcing of Darkstar I have become especially interested in the project. The renewed interest in it by Sun has encouraged me to look into it more, and I am impressed thus far. However, I do have one serious question.

Let us say that one would like to develop an MMORPG on Darkstar with the intention of charging a small nominal fee to download the game and then a monthly fee for the game. Will there be any allowance under any license of Darkstar for such a thing? Currently I am reading a lot of different takes on this, and would like to hear from an authority on the matter if possible. Thank you.

The objective is to allow developers to use the technology to make a game and charge for it. Anyone who tells you otherwise is just wrong and is guessing. Right now, we are working through the licensing to do this. More to come as we get this finished. Again, we want anyone to be able to use this technology, but they should also be free to make a living with the games they create as well
