King Lears Adventure is a platformer i made 3 years ago and was my first game.

The game was slow and had a lot of bugs so i did not finished it. But for a few weeks ago i decided to start to finish games,
so i fixed most bugs, improved speed and made a end screen.

I am working on a sequel using lwjgl
Engine test Webstart:(hopefully work on all platforms) http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5669663/games/KingLear2/launch.jnlp
I am currently trying to improve my gameengine and my tools for speed, stability and productivity,
but maybe its time to start making some game-play because its feels like i can improve my gameengine for a eternity.

I tried the first applet. It’s beautiful, but I’m not very good at it.

It was a bit to hard on a few places so i decreased the difficulty a bit.
Fixed jumping so it never get stuck.
Fixed map loading so it never fails to load.
Fixed so the game restarts properly after u finish the game.

It was a bit painful to go trough my old code but it feels great to have made a finished game (even if its far from amazing)

The game runs smooth and I like the colourful graphics. But I find it quite difficult, I have only got past the jumping turtles once after several tries. I think if you made the jumping smoother the gameplay would be easier, so that it follows a curve function rather then a linear.

yes, perfecting jumping probably makes the game a lot better.
But it’s hard to make a perfect jump function that just feels right.
I probably have to make running nonlinear as well with some acceleration method to make it work.
But this is something i will work on my next game.

I have reduced the difficulty several times but still people thinks its to hard.
I think a lot of games today is way to easy, and the game would be extremely boring if it offers no challenge.
But maybe its hard to get used to the linear jumping and running…
