JRPG Project Approved!

The following project has been approved:

[quote]Project: JRPG
JRPG is a 2D multi-player online game and Platform. It is build upon the Lights of Laminos(Mini Adventure) project of this
communities very own Kevin Glass, which he has graciously given me to share with the community. There is already a working demo/ game, server,
and content development tools. The goal is to get the platform complete so the game (or some derivation of it) can be completed, and ultimately to
develpo the tools to the point where non-developers can create entire games without coding.

The Community seems really excited about this project as noted in this post:

Please see http://jrpg.dev.java.net for details

Hell, yes!

I’ve abstained since I might be slightly biased. However, I’d like to add I think this really is a project worth getting involved in. Its alot like something we’ve been talking about around here for a long time, something to allow people play together in an environment.

Thanks a lot Kev… You ruined my chance at 100% approval

can we make it 3D? Please?

I’ve already thought about this and will try to keep the framework open so we can add it in later/or in parallel… ;D

While this is a cool suggestion, I would think it would be good to make it isometric. The screenshots I’ve seen look really cool, but I think that making something isometric is an easy way to make it cooler. That being said, I admit that I am not very good at graphics, so my opinion might not count for much. Not to mention that my post count shows that I am a noob. In any case, my java is rusty, but I would be interested in helping be it testing, story, or programming.

let’s do it!

There’s no reason to prevent the engine itself supporting multiple different rendering modes. However, I’d suggest it worth getting the basic model working before jumping for anything additional.

Spoken like a true master… Once the basic framework/server/client is complete we can persue other client formats… Mobile, Isometric, and 3D. But Again let’s stay focused so we can show the Java world that a great community project can become a finished usable Product. 8)

I approved the project straight away. I’m looking forward to seeing what the community can do together as a team.

Good Luck Krypto!

Thanks… This really will be the communities’ project.

Will this project be approved soon.
