Dear JGO community,

You probably found this thread due to the recent changes in the sidebar. As we previously discussed in the JGO coinage tally, the financial situation of JGO is note quite satisfactionary, and although people suggested (both in the thread, and through PMs) that they were willing to contribute to JGO by buying ad space, I couldn’t find a trace of it in the Project Wonderful stats. It was not as disheartening as you might think, because honestly, this was what I expected. It seems making a Project Wonderful account and an ad might be a bit too much of a hassle to part with your money. Meanwhile I secured a nice deal with an advertiser which will pay for the hosting costs of roughly 6 more months - all is not lost!

We have a long way to go, though, and given that quite a few of you indicated that you were willing to donate, I started thinking of ways how to give back to the community. I settled on a Kickstarter-style campaign, in which everybody gets to pay what they want.

To make a pledge, please click the little silver medal of the plegde of your choice, and fill out the form. If you’re willing to make a donation, please note that PayPal will be the intermediate, allowing your to transfer funds using either your creditcard or a bankaccount.

I plan to run the campaign for a limited time only!

Yup, I noticed that a few minutes ago.

Anyway, time to pay $899 USD to join the JGO Illuminati.

On a serious note, this seems like a nice feature. While I’m not a big fan of the features that go with each rank, It seems like a decent way to make money for the forum’s hosting costs.

Perhaps you could add an option to donate for a custom rank, or something similar to that? If you’re going to go all out with the features and what-not it makes sense to add something like that that.

I can’t seem to figure out how to pledge. You mean clicking on the sliver medal by the backers right? Clicking it does not do anything.

Also, am I entitled to the “LONG ARM” ranking? :smiley:

Just click the medal. Obviously it is disabled for guests. If it fails, you can try to logout and login again, or clear your cookies.

Still nothing. Logged out & back in, cleared cookies, and tried different browsers to no avail.

Never listen to Mark Dice [sub](or Nicolas Cage Either!)[/sub]. The Illuminati is just an umbrella term used to describe a great many of secret societies and groups. Get a book about the Bavarian Illuminati, and then read it.

I don’t feel like discussing my large knowledge of conspiracy theories here, so let’s get back on topic :slight_smile:

I’m a little confused, according to this:

People who do not pledge money will be restricted to the misc board? That seems a little… wrong.

That’s cool, good idea. I think this is better than project wonderful because all of the cash goes to jgo instead of a chunk of it going to project wonderful.
But when I click the badges on the right hand column I get an internal server error 500.

I know I haven’t been on JGO for many months (hell, I have 45 pages of unread stuff!) but it’s been so valuable to me and others that I’m willing to donate almost every penny I have.
