JGears Demo's Gradient Paint not display

Dear all,
I tried to run JGears Demo on Windows Server 2003 but I don’t see Gradient Paint on background, I only see black background and three gears. Could you tell me why ?
I wonder to know how make a transparent GLJPanel when GLJPanel is used with JPanel?

You aren’t getting any hardware acceleration for OpenGL pbuffers (either because your card doesn’t support them or because your drivers are out of date) and the Microsoft software OpenGL 1.1 implementation doesn’t support alpha blending sufficiently to make this demo work properly.

Thanks to Ken Russel so much.
But what requirements to run JGears Demo properly? I tried it on Windows XP but it not display Gradient Paint.
I read “Two JỌGL Programming Frameworks” book of Andrew Davision and I tried to run CubeGL_CB (use GLJPanel) demo I also only saw black background.

I run Windows Server 2003, Intel Graphics Card, Current Display Mode: 32 bit.
