The JavaOne game session slides are now up at the JavaOne site, even though they have not linked to them from the main page:
Advanced OpenGL for the Java Platform
Java Technology for Game Developers
I like the page in the second one where it talks about Java2D, has the bullet point “Robustness” and then next page is a BSOD.
But the slides from the games summit are not
Maybe I should read the legal agreements I signed and maybe I can off at least MY slides somewhere…
Chris, what did I sign?
Hi Herk,
The Speaker’s Agreement was really an agreement that your likeness and (I’m pretty sure) materials could be used without compensation. But I don’t seem to remember anything about giving away rights to your presentation slides. So in theory you should be able to post your slides on your web site.
But I don’t have the agreement in front of me, so I can’t be sure. Plus I’m not a lawyer!
I would like to post my slides as well, if I can do it legally and they don’t get posted on the Sun site.
Hopefully Chris can clarify this when he returns from his much-needed break!
If you signed the standard JavaOne ‘Speaker Release Form’, you agreed not to use your presentation in the JavaOne conference template for any purpose other than speaking at JavaOne.
It doesn’t preclude you publishing the same content de-JavaOne-ized, so I’d guess you should copy your presentation into your own template (e.g. your company’s template) then go ahead and post it on your web site.
(Usual ‘I-am-not-a-lawyer’ disclaimers apply :P)
