Hi all, I thought I might start a thread for posting JavaOne news that may (or may not) be related to Java gaming. Since I am not at J1, I sure would like to see some news
Anyway, I don’t have anything to post yet, do you?

I saw this on lwn.net. I think it’s the previously mentioned licensing change for distributing the JDK.
Ok! that sounds good, although I am not a hardcore open sourcer ( I like source access and all but I’m more pragmatic about distribution and derivitive works I guess ).
Anyone here care to comment on if this works for them or not?
i’ve also heard/read somwhere on these forums that a new version of SGS will most probably be displayed at JavaOne!

I wish I could be at Java One 2006 myself.
Take a look at the second presentation by Lombardi Software on this link.

Well EA2 got pushed back afew weeks.
I actually do have a version of the SGS thue guys just completed with some really basic admin controls but to be honest Im not sure if anyone at javaOne cares enough to make it worth updating the demo machine.
I might try anyway though tmorrow, mostly for a bug fix that would make some thinsg simpler…
Well I’m a big fan of Open Source and the ability to tinker with the code
Here’s another goodie:
Interesting bit I just heard at breakfast - Sun are providing a way to write VB and have it compile to Java byte code. Its seen as a way to leverage the massive number of commercial developers who use VB currently but have significant issues with using the .NET platform.

Oh, and Hell just called, there asking for snow plows…
What a difference a CEO makes, it’s like the twilight zone or something :o
lolz… looks like Sun and Microsoft is competiting with one another for “market shares” as in who will get more programmers. Java Developers or .Net Developers
lolz

Nice shots of JavaOne booths and demos (Chris got his face in there too ;-))
almost got an heart attack when I read:
