Java3D Particle System JDJ article

Screens look good.

We had much trouble creating particle system to display smoke and fire in FlyingGuns. Playing with the wrong parameters and performance broke down.

Looking forward to see how you solved it!

That looks like a lot of ground to cover, although I guess it is pretty much what is needed for a complete particle system.

I’m really glad that someone is doing this- it is one of the most needed tutorials for Java3D and hopefully it will clear up a few of the things I’ve not been quite understanding myself. My attempts at building one were quite good in terms of recycling particles to save on GC but very bad in terms of actually making the particles animate at all. I really have no idea what was going on there…
