Java3D on ice, Wonderland switching to JMonkeyEngine

Java3D is on hold.
Wonderland switches to JMonkeyEngine

Congratulations to the JME team.

  • Java3D dead in the water once again *

This is IMO a pretty good announcement (don’t get me wrong here but Java 3d is IMO a far to slow developing API without a real future) :wink:
(I have written yesterday a blog entry about that topic and got >1000 hits over night ;D)

Hang on, does that mean it’s using LWJGL underneath it all? :-*

Well, this is a problem but no show stopper :stuck_out_tongue: …and nothing what can’t be fixed ;D (just kidding)

jme is platform agnostic ::slight_smile:
so in the future they will be able to support other providers - even software.

It’s what it uses now that I was interested in…

Still, there you go…
