So, I start this sgs-tank project to showcase this little game example. Today, I get a pending role request for developer status on the project from a user - how am I supposed to know who this user is, or why they want a role?

Hmm, that never happend to us… it is indeed a bit unusual. Normally you would get a mail first from the person who applys…
All I know is that it’s not me

In general, if they are asking for permissiosn to your code and you dont knwo wh othey are, deny them.
I usually send back an explaination of denial for a request for anything above “Observer” that says the following:
“Developer is for people who are going to actually modfy the code, If all you want is to download the code, please re-apply with a request for Observer status. if you wish to actually jopin the project as a coder, please go to the forums at www.java-gaming.org and post a message about your background and why you want to work on this code. – Thank you.”
