Java Live chat April 6th

Hi
Just wondering how many people are planning (or even know about) the April 6th (6PM GMT. 11AM PDT) Java Live session with some of the GTG bods? (Athomas, Jeff, Daniel, and Ken). I’m hoping to make it, at some point, and was just wondering how many other JGO people were interested?

Cheers

Endolf

I intended to be there, although its a bad time here…

I might try to pop in. I’m surprised they don’t pop by the IRC channel now and again, just to shoot the breeze like

Kev

6 PM GMT, that would place it comfortably after dinner
Never attended one before…Could somebody post some more info here please?

I’ve had it marked on my calendar for weeks… which means I’m likely to forget and miss it

Ditto

I’m just hoping the page will be updated with th transcript from it at some point, it’s my dads birthday and I don’t think i’ll be too popular if I tell him i’m gonna go hide for an hour or so :), I’m hoping he is late home from work

Looks like it’s not gonna happen anyway. It’s 18:15 GMT now but the live chat … isn’t. There’s a few people logged in but no conversation and no sign of the sun people.

Oh well. Back to work I spose.

EDIT: found a different clock that also claims to be GMT, only it’s showing an hour difference. Arrgh. And I’m running linux, so I don’t have access to a real clock :frowning: (the kernels have a software clock that is broken, but you don’t get to use your ultra-accurate hardware clock instead, just in case you are running an 8086 with an inaccurate clock. Clever).

EDIT2: Apparently you can’t type anything until the official moderator arrives and allows you to, but it doesn’t tell you this in the client :frowning:

Well, thanks guys that was pretty useful. I mentioned at the time it’d be nice if we could get something more interactive more often. IRC would still seem like the easiest thing to use.

Kev

As predicted I missed most of it :)… Now I must patiently wait for the transcript.

+1 to scheduling some less formal realtime chats with the Sun folks. IRC or whatever.

Did I ever say I’d prefer a chat window here on the forums pages? :-*

Do you know, I think you did!

The IRC java client integrated into the javagaming pages would be just on the money I think… gives everyone what they’d like…

Kev

I missed it by 2 hours. %_% What was in?

When will they post the damn transcript? They are always so slow…

:frowning:

[quote]Athomas Goldberg: The APIs have only been available since last June, so I anticipate it will be some time before we begin to see completed games. That said, we are working with some developers who’ve done demos for us in the past to create some more substantial demos.

Any ideas who’s writing these demos?

Also, thanks to this:

I realised it would be a good idea to maintain such lists for each of the API’s. Anyone have such lists already?

Hi
The specifically with gamepads it’s easy. The logitech wingman wireless rumble pad is the only one that has been tested by me with linux, and it works under windows too, even rumbles there, rumble support isn’t in linux yet, but the pad works.
