I think it’s more detailed and easier to understand than Bracha’s Generics PDF, which is referenced by the JDK 1.5 Javadoc’s “What’s new”.
To German speaking readers I’d like to recommend the very nice and free Openbook “Java ist auch eine Insel” (Java is an island, too), because now it’s been updated to reflect the Tiger release enhancements.
It’s downloadable as ziped HTML from Galileo Computing’s Openbook section as well as readable online.
It’s one of the few Java books which are complete and well readable. The autor is tutor at University and in economy.
