Jake2 (quake2) getting noticed...

The old myths are out in force on that thread

I’m actually very impressed with how well it is being received. It is usually much worse when you mention Java on /.

True - but some of the comments on there sound so back woods it’s funny. Some of the old school C/C++ guys get so offended when a Java program runs almost or as nice as a C program. I guess some people are raised into it and never get out of it.

Is there a name for a “redneck” programmer?

Unemployed.

Liek the guys who insisted that you coudl never code games in C so it wasn’t worth learning…

I had to make your joke into a sig. ;D
I’d have to agree there wasn’t much Java bashing in that thread.
It is a fair bit surprising.

I wonder why and how attitudes towards Java have changed.

I did notice the last comment was hilarious.
The guy wouldn’t pay $100 for a Java programmer but would pay $200 for a half assed C programmer. Sorry but that takes the cake when it comes to ignorance and stupidity. ::slight_smile:

LOL!

Try getting a job at a games company with l33t Java sk1llz…

Cas

Worked for me.

I just had another go through that thread, and there really is still is alot Java predjudice out there - the /. mods have gotten much better at scoring those posts though. If you set your threshold low enough you will see the thread is still about 30% fud.
