The last few months have been quite a ride here. Firstly the site got hacked and defaced, then I toasted a complete server and it’s hard drive, moved office and house locations, and finally roasted another 2 hard drives while trying to get the box that contains j3d.org, vlc.com.au and a few other sites back online. I’ve probably spent a cumulative 2 months out of the last 5 just rebuilding servers rather than doing real work
Anyway, things are looking much better now and j3d.org is back to resembling a real website again. I want to send out a huge appology to everyone for the crappy service that has been going on since earlier in the year! A lot of things beyond my control have effected what the site can give.
As part of this news, I’ve reorganised the j3d.org site quite substantially so that it is no longer just about java3d. I want to broaden the scope substantially and now Java3D is just one section of a larger site devoted to everything Java+3D graphics related. The idea is to complement the java-gaming.org and javadesktop.org websites to cover basic technology issues, news and tutorials. I’ll leave the discussion forums et all to those specific sites. In addition, I want to keep the focus on general 3D graphics - and in particular the non-gaming markets that these other two websites don’t cover. Please visit the front page to find out more about what is available:
Most of the site has been moved to a separate subsite under java3d.j3d.org. If you have old links to www.j3d.org/foo, please update them to java3d.j3d.org/foo. In addition, if you’re recommending links such as the loader archive and Java3D FAQ, please remember to change the base URL too. I’ve put in automated redirects on the webserver, but they won’t last forever. If you do come across something that has completely disappeared from either site, please fire me an email.
