j2se1.5.0_6 available (goodbye JWS scary dialog)

Well, the JWS scary dialog has been replaced with a less scary one, although self-signed jars got a ‘this application digital certificate is invalid’ , with a bit more explanations at the bottom of the dialog.

Are there any other interesting things (games related) in this release ?

note : the security dialog is not properly localized, at least for a french locale. what a pity (a non english reader cannot understand what this dialog is about)… :frowning:

The first thing I noticed about Java 1.5.0_6 is that it runs Kumari without suttering the sound during loading, 1.5.0_5 did. They improved something in there beyond the WebStart screen

I just noticed that the new Webstart doesn’t seem to be closing ??? I have been running the Java4K programs as well as my own and I had like 15 or more instances of javaw running. Is anyone else seeing this?

They fixed the thread priorities. It’s the same fix they put into Java 6. It was discussed here in a thread relating to GC freezing other processes.

Oh well! Yes indeed, they finally fixed it.
I’ve still to test a bit but so far it looks great.

Btw. it’s been this thread: http://www.java-gaming.org/forums/index.php?topic=6381.0

When I ran Eclipse after I updated Java(uninstall old, reboot, install new) the max heap size has increased from 30MB before the update to 75MB after the update.

Eclipse has a little GC memory usage meter.
