Seems like someone managed to port the KVM over to the PSP.

nice
Anyone in the game dev group at Sun wants to comment on this? What are the chances of this port to see the light in a commercial game? Also it would be interessting to know if the performance of this KMV is acceptable.
Interesting - though not particularly useful
I wonder if he has Threads working… and whether he has implemented the functionality necessary for cldc1.1.
Even nicer still would be a cdc capable vm.
I think he should focus on those before bothering to implement the mid profiles.
Yeeeha! Finally a Java VM on the PSP! Oh joy!
Having a vm run on the thing is a long way from being able to do anything useful and/or doesn’t look weird as I found out with my linux based pda with java support:

There is already Lua and it’s enough for PSP, I think.
Maybe the reason SUN won’t let him go public with the download is because SUN is working on a Java VM for the PSP; they don’t want him to release it before they release theirs. Wouldn’t that be nice. ;D
Not really… a JVM for the PSP would be ultra-rubbish. Slow, crap, hobbled, useless.

And for everyone out of these forums it will be just “java”, so, bad press
Precisely.

Yeah true.
It probably depends on how you market it.
It’s probably easy enough to create a JVM for the PSP and PS2 which is good enough for creating fun old school games using good old friendly java. Market it for that, and it will be cool.
Just not doing it at all because of being scared of bad press (due to your own bad marketing) is probably the worst you can do, as the glaring absense of java on any console is seriously bad press of its own.
