Izalys World - 2d side scroller (run and jump game)

Hi, after 1 year and 6 months, I think my project is advanced enough to put a demo here

It’s a 2d run and jump like old mario and sonic games. I made everything myself : code, graphics and music.

Hope you’ll like it ;). Any comment (good or bad) is welcome.

Features :

  • 5 levels and 1 boss
  • OpenGL accelerated graphics
  • Parallax scrolling
  • 60 fps framerate
  • Any resolution available from 640480 to 19201200
  • Nice mp3 tunes

The art style is really cute, though if I had to nitpick, the numbers in the scores and lives display look a little out of place.

Nice art style! Its fun to switch it up.

For the record: It doesn´t work on my Macbook. But the crayonstyle is nice.

I love the style of art.
I didn’t test it yet, but it looks good.
I’ll give it a try.

Liked the pics, but cannot test it. What about a linux version also?

Also getting an error while trying the link in the main page: The requested URL /files/Izalys%20World%20Installer.exe was not found on this server.

Hi,

Thanks for your nice comments about the art style ! I used dry pastels and a Wacom tablet. I changed to font for a prettier one, so it now seems ok.

Sorry it did’nt work on a Mac, and I’m not sure about Linux. I think I’ll have to install Eclipse under a Mac and Linux VM.

@luisoft : I fixed the main page link, only the the Downloads section one was working.

Its been a while since the last comment but…what a hell, I had a lot of fun with this game! haha the sounds and art style are very cool and the level design is also very clever. Playing this game I remembered old times (like sonic times).

Thank you for share this with us!

Great job

Thank you very much for your comment ShuKen, I was very happy to read it :). I’m a big 8 and 16-bit consoles era Sonic fan too. I tried to have a level design funnier than a “always running to the right” one.

I recorded my voice for sounds effects, then I used a pitch shifter…

Thanks again for playing

Nice game! It reminds me some retro video game (level design, traps, enemies)

I saw a minor bug, when I’m over a ground vertex I cannot jump. I think that it’s because the “sensor” isn’t detecting ground (the character has the same animation as when he’s falling).

What can I say about the graphics? Seems like you hand-drawn them and scanned it. Good job though, very enjoyable game!
