IOTD - give me your screenshots

Since flipcode is pretty much dead now, I decided to create an IOTD thingy (with drupal). I mean we always wanted something like that anyways and everyone likes browsing through a bunch of flashy screenshots :wink:

Basic functionality is already there… it just needs some more styling and uhm… well, basically a completely new theme (a simple one).

RSS is also already there… just not linked prolly and the title is a bit screwed right now :wink:

After registration you can submit an image with some text. Once it got approved it will show up in the gallery and of course in the RSS, too. Right now only registered users can write comments. I’m planning to allow that for annon users too (with the help of captchas I should be able to keep spambot away).

[edit: RSS location updated. The old one will still work… but the title will remain a tad screwed there.]

A pic of my level editor (when it gets approved), since no-one normally sees it. At some point hopefully not in the too distant future it will get ported to LWJGL and the map commands will get extended a bit. In particular I want to support GL_MODULATE so I can seamlessly texture terrains with gradual colour change (as in SharpShooter), yet still have the room based map (as seen here) to allow A* path finding. Just wish I had more time :slight_smile:

Of course it did get approved. Its the oddest level editor I’ve ever seen. Really hardcore ;D

And… LOL… I really thought Riven would try to make some fun of me… took me ages to note that his image wasnt a photo :o

But… that project took way too much of my time because I had to focus so much on optimising, so I decided to abandon it.
I got it running at 60FPS on a 9700 so that was quite something :slight_smile:

Was worth every single minute though!

And because of the requests, I added a few more screenshots (not as beautiful :)) in the IOTD thread. So if you want to see them, go there :slight_smile:

Agreed. I’ll take a look at that after I’m done with theme stuff. Another thing I would like to add are comment counts below the thumbnails… and a bunch of other small tweeks.

Basic styling is done now. I also had to tweak some things all over the place… meh. Oh there is a comment counter thingy right below the thumbnails now.

The header looks a bit empty but that will change. Eg if you arent logged in there will be a total of 3 textfields (nick, pass and one for the search thingy).

Prev/next isnt there yet, but its still on my todo list. The (currently non visible) paging stuff is also default-ish… so it need at least some styling.

Just some status update…

Changed some background things. Caching is nicer and the breadcrumbs also do make more sense now. The markup for the thumb-boxes was also improved and the hover even works in IE (so yea, I use a-tags there ;)). And some other details here and there.

Well, looks like I have to redo the layout, because bigger images break it… while I’m at it… I’ll add the search box, too.

Yeah, nice to have a java iotd. Would be really nice to get the prev / next in there soon.

I just edited my Monstrumo screenshot (replaced old one with new one). And I have a feeling that it’s not going to show (or it is waiting to be approved?)
I think it would be nice if one can upload , let’s say 3 pictures instead of just one. What do you think?

Yea, that would be indeed nice, but a modification like that wouldnt be easy.
