Interresting article on "End of GPU"

IMO I think that it is really possible, but even if not the paper is quite interresting

Your right guts-wise. (‘the end of the GPU’-bitis kinda the same as the ‘end of the cpu’ papers that where floating around a while ago. These slides seem to easily beat all those papers even considering that it’s a incomplete story being slides and all.

Each object contains a lock - this sounds soo java ::slight_smile:

“Just lock an object before using it” - depending on how well you can make biased locking work this might actually pan it

[quote]Hardware will become 20X faster, but:

  • Game budgets will increase less than 2X.
    Therefore…
  • Developers must be willing to sacrifice performance
    in order to gain productivity.
  • High-level programming beats
    low-level programming.
  • Easier hardware beats faster hardware!
  • We need great tools: compilers, engines, middleware
    libraries…

Does anyone have a video of the presentation?

The stuff about raycasting isn’t that new, I found several articles and presentations a few years ago that said the future of graphics is raycasting. But it’s a very interesting presentation. I’d also love to see a video of it.
