I need ideas! Brainstorming session!

How’s it going, friends?

I have been developing, somewhat slower than usual, for the past 4 days now. I have finished the engine and mechanics, generally, and now that I have done so, I need to actually design the game. I’m going for a action platformer, wave type game. So this is where I ask the community. What would you look for in these types of games? What would make it awesome to you? What would make you want to play it more than just once? Should enemies be simple back/forth wall bouncing enemies, or player tracking?

Seriously, include any questions relevant to this in your answers! & Do not be afraid to be vast with ideas. I don’t have much of the game planned. Like I said, I’ve only build the mechanics and engine.

Thanks!

Fed up with turning on and off all the time, the CPU units inside computers decide to leave. This instantly causes the computers to stop working, wrecking havoc on the world. It’s up to you to find the computer chips, and keep our digital world keep turnin’.

How about making it a hard game, nothing feels better than completing/breaking highscores on hard games, like Super Crate Box, Super Hexagon.
Make it unique!

That is all what I would ask for.

Make a two-player platformer game in which players can cooperate. I adored Bubble Bobble in this respect: you could “bubble” enemies and then jump on them to kill them. This simple mechanic allowed all kinds of tactics , e.g. cooperatively killing enemies when one player “bubbles” an enemy and the other jumps on it, or using the bubble effect to get to places you otherwise could not go. Perhaps it offers some inspiration for you.

A turn based strategy virtual board game similar to chess, but players get to move pieces a number of times per turn on the board.

You can make the game as advanced as you want, add in some HP, what the pieces are/do, maybe go very in depth.

And the goal is to either do damage to other pieces, or capture something the oppoenent controls or destroy a key item, etc.
