I’m just starting to make games using sprite images but unless I’m so lucky as to find individual images on the internet, I cant get what i want.
So i guess my first question is this: what program can i use to create my own images in either JPG, GIF, PNG etc.?
and second: if i obtain a “sprite sheet” with a whole bunch of images on one page in a PNG format, how can i get just one image at a time from it?
Thanks for any help.

Just rememerb that it is illegal for you to destribute woith your game any images you don’t own distriubtio nrighst to.
That means either
(a) They were made freely distributable by the creator (this must be explicit.)
(b) You have licnesed that right from the creator.
or
©You created it yourself. And scanning it, cutting it up or combining it with other images, or even modifying others work does NOT count as making it yourself.
That looks cool. I haven’t seen that one before. I have generally been doing with my graphics work in GIMP but it can seem overkill for basic tile graphics if you’ve never touched it before. It’s a shame that TileStudio is Win only :
but I know a lot of people around here do much of their work on Win platforms so it’s still a good pointer.
