How to convert OBJ, MD2 and 3DS models into COLLADA format?

Hi!

The COLLADA support of Blender is very buggy, I cannot export my models with this software. I’m under Linux and I’m looking for another software to convert them into the COLLADA format. Do you have an idea? I’m not sure I can use Maya or 3DSMAX under Linux :frowning:

Hi,

Here is the link to the Whoola collada converter.

Try it. Maybe this is good thing.

I think Cheetah3D can do the trick for you, although it doesn’t support MTL files with OBJ.

Linux ? :-\

I don’t know if 3DS work with wine (last time I tried it didn’t). There is a Linux version of Maya… but i don’t know much about its collada ability.

Thanks. I’m going to use it for my MD2 file and for my biggest OBJ file. I succeeded in converting the other files with 3DVIA.

Edit.: :frowning: your converter failed to convert my agent (MD2 format) :frowning:

Cheetah3D relies heavily on Cocoa and is available only under Mac.

Whoops, I assumed it was everything for some reason. Sorry.

One of my colleagues has got a Mac. Cheetah3D is a bit expensive, less than some other modelers.

I have succeeded in converting almost all models except the agent (MD2). 3DVIA is converting the big level right now. This is the only reliable free solution that I have found.
