How to call police/ambulance from a different country

Situation: You are skyping, seeing a stream or just on a phone with a person from a different country. You witness some emergency in which it would be very appropriate to call either police or ambulance. However the person you were talking to cannot. So you are the only one aware at this point, and you might not know when this will change or it is very immediate.
How do you call an emergency number from a different country ?

Dial 999 here in the UK. 911 in the States (and that might work in the UK now too I think). 666 in Italy I seem to recall. I expect largely the same sort of deal everywhere… why do you ask?

Probably just call your local police hotline and let them forward the request. Other than that google for emergency phone numbers and the international access code of the country in question.

You cannot. The best bet would be to
A) Call it in your country and see if they can forward it.
B) Google a local police station in the city and hope that the queue to get to an operator isn’t too long.

Mike

In India, 108 is ambulance and 100 is police station.

@Cas/SHC:
Well, telling all your countries different numbers won’t help anyone since they only direct to your police/… when you’re in your country…

@Drenius

It may not be helpful from his country, but if someone finds this page through search, he/she could be helped.

Yeah, I misunderstood. Basically… you can’t do this.
