How people handle the JNLP/Opera conflict?

What’s a nice way of handling the fact Opera just hangs on jnlp launch… ‘Applet Is Loading’, no error.
I guess to use JavaScript browser detect or something, and redirecting to an ugly page that says
‘use another browser’ right from the top… Since replacing all the ‘Play this game’ Buttons would be a major hassle.
How have people dealt with this, and why is it acceptable that Opera does not func with jnlp?
Theres also http://www.opera.com/support/kb/view/470/
but what user is going to bother with that much hassle… maybe an Opera user :E
which i am and couldn’t get it to work, already have sdk installed, then - ?
Tools, Prefs, mime type, have added, then what ? open with default ?

Contact Opera, tell them to fix it. They’re only shooting themselves in the foot with their lousy Java support.

People have tried in the past (myself included) the usual response you end up with is “we don’t care about java” or “it works fine here”

it seems every release their java plugin just gets worse, like how they totally crippled signed applets in the latest opera 10 (no LWJGL, JOGL or JavaFX applets).

Best to just use a better browser

I am slowly migrating entirely to Chrome. Thing is, the mail support in Opera is really good, and that’s what I’ll miss.

If it helps, only about 1.3% of people use Opera.

It doesn’t help me, being in that 1.3%. Bah.

The 1.3% of me that uses Opera is my little toe. 8)
