How often do you code

I want to know how much time others put into programming and such as well as having a life XD. So, how often do you spend coding? I usually program daily unless I take a gaming break where I play League all day.

Rephrased :point:

Typically I schedule 2-3 hours a day

Whenever I feel like it.

Hi

I should start by saying I probably have the polar opposite of a life, but I like my “life”. I program 13 hours a day during the summer (unless I have obligations), and on weekends during the rest of the year 11 hours a day, and none during the week during the rest of the year (I would program more if I could).

I code about 4 hours a night … with the odd evening off to do “real world” things.

Depends on my mood. I had had days in life where I had coded even when eating, and also days I spend after them going with full sleep.

Always. Coding is just problem solving and you tend to solve hard problems when you are doing something else.

Those sudden breakthroughs while taking a shower :point:

It took me weeks to figure out I was using ‘glUseProgram’ in place of ‘glLinkProgram’.

Whenever I find myself needing to solve a problem that requires code to be solved.

I haven’t had a lot of coding-related projects recently.

10 hours a day, and I’m still no good!

Whenever somebody pays me for it - regardless of the amount.

Depends on mood and if I have enough free time - sometimes I am not coding at all, sometimes I can write code for 12-14 hours in a row (mostly when I have a lot of motivation - learning something new or implementing very important feature). Usually 3-4 hours though.

I have a cycle where I code from 4-15 hours a day for a few months and then I have a down turn where I only code 2-3 hours a few times per week, but I always think about it…

life? what’s that? haha

eh I usually go through periods of ooh yer lets pogram for a few weeks then I dont do it for a few months , its odd.

If some of you spend little time coding, how is it that you’ve got great projects? Is the fact that I’m self taught, or are there some special breaks? Such wizardry

For the vast majority of people I don’t think you can spend a little time doing anything and produce something great, but if you do a little everyday that’s a different story.

It depends on my current development focus. Some days I don’t touch my code at all because I’m drawing graphics, others it’s all code. But, my total “dev time” is probably about 10-12 hours a day, 7 days a week (or more) balanced between drawing graphics and coding. If I had to guess, I’m probably coding more than doing graphics though. I find myself using a lot of placeholders and eventually playing “catch up” with graphics and drawing for a day or two every other week. That focus will probably slowly shift to mostly graphics though as I drive into adding content to the game, more so than coding core functionality.

I haven’t been coding much recently actually… I need to though.
When I’m into it, I can spend 5-8 hours a day on it, though that is way too much. The people here saying that they spend ~12 a day programming are either lying or have no life.
