How can I get into game design coming from a C and Java background?

I have complete some C and Java programming and now I am interested in graphics and game design. What do I need to do in order to pursue this further? If any one can share any information regarding this with me it would be appreciated.

Are you interested in game design as a hobby or as a career path?

If as a hobby get yourself a programmer and get cranking.

If as a career path, there are some studies you can follow around game design (and alot around graphics). If you don’t feel like studying the most important thing you can get is a portfolio with alot of examples. It doesn’t have to be finished projects (even if it is better if it is) but it needs to be a way for you to demonstate your skills and interest.

Also, where do you live?

Agree that we need more info on what you want to do.

More gaming jobs with C++ than Java. But there are Java jobs.

There are some very good java tutorials. Kevin Glass has several and then there is the whole OpenGL / Jogl world.

etc.

Go ahead and just start learning 3DS MAX or Maya or both. It’ll take you like a year of teaching it to yourself to be any good.

On the 3D modeling front, TrueSpace is now free and has quite a few video courses that went free with it.
There is also Blender which has some very good tutorials and even a wikibook.

Can you please tell me what is good opportunity in java
