How about using JIRA as bug/feature tracker?

Just posting this to get feedback on how much :o this community can accept about using other opensource packages instead of those present now.

I would really like to see JIRA used instead of the current issue tracker as JIRA:

  • Got a more intuitive interface (a lot easier to understand)
  • More and a some very useful features check http://jira.atlassian.com and see for yourself ;D

And, yes, jira is free to use for opensource communities (as I guess games.dev.java.net should qualify as?).

Yes please God YES! JIRA is excellent and much easier to deal with than the current solution

Sounds good to me… the Issuezilla/Bugzilla stuff has a very messy interface.

The problem is that we are becoming more and more detached from java.net. CollabNet provided the structure there, and all of the communities there are sort of tied together. Too bad CollabNet didn’t really do that great of a job. It seems they should have done the java.net site as a community developed project rather than springing a substandard site on us. And then it would be better from the get go… ah well.

We have already replaced the forums. We want to replace the issue tracker. I suspect next we will switch to Subversion instead of CVS. The file sharing will change, then the wiki… all that will be left on java.net is a single link that says go to java-gaming.org for the good stuff
