HIGH PROBABILITY OF SUCCESSFUL MIGRATION

…JGOers!

It seems the migration went smoothly and everything is now running at the new server. It has been a lengthy process of almost 6 months, with steady progress by all parties. I can’t thank Chris and Charlie enough for all the effort they put into JGO in the first place and for their trust in me to let me join them in managing JGO and securing its future.

Your new cute overlord,

  • Riven

sure ?

everything seems to run a lot faster, no ?

Try the search function, it’s much faster too.

Riven now has 2 appreciation!

Great work!

Hey a wiki, this is going to be awesome!

How does one appreciate? is it just a moderator thing?

Well this is all very nice! Mad props to all concerned, your efforts are much appreciated

You all rock! Well done!

Look on the left under the name, at “Appreciation++”. Doesn’t seem like it would be a moderator only thing. It’s just not obvious.

Congratulations with the migration.
It appears to have been quite successful

A few minor comments:
Looks a bit too bright for my eyes at first glance, but maybe it can be configured / adjust later.
The rotating banner at the top right is quite annoying to me, any chance it can be disabled?

I’ll be back for more later I’m sure

Puzzled me too. I search the this topic for “Appreciation++” and found nothing…

Could you check again?

Why doesn’t it just say “Karma”?

Because I want to use existing functionality and change its meaning.

See it like: we’re not keeping score with eachother, we’re appreciating helpful posts. Karma has negative and positive aspects, as in: you get what you give. Appreciation is solely positive.

I do like the ++. Feels all programmer-y!

Maybe instead of Appreciation we can have, like Features. I dunno. :o Something all non-obvious and yet programmer-y.

We have moved servers again, from a Linode 512 node, to a Linode 1G node, at half the price $.$ :point:

The old server is still keeping strong at 939 days uptime, but its bits will soon be scrapped.

Now piping traffic from the old server to the new one, to work around the sluggish DNS propagation - as it could have taken a few hours for everybody to join the party.
