Hey all.As the thread’s title is saying I am a total noob
I did java programming course from college and with the help of a nice book I have at my home Core Java 2 Programming by Sun Microsystem press.I have finished the simple Java programming courses in college. But compared to the book the college courses taught(<— past tense of teach ???) me next to nothing.
I am from Greece by the way as you can see from the bad use of the english language :-[ . So … as I was saying all was going well until I decided I wanted to get myself more into game programming than just programming. And I wanted to know if you guys have any books to propose to me to buy as far as Java game programmign is concerned.
Thanks in advance
You could try this one. It has all the basics for Java2D.
It has 3D stuff in there too, but you’ll want to stick with 2D and do things like TicTacToe and Asteriods first.

Yes yes ofcourse.Simple things first. Thanks I will consider your proposal and I would love to see some more
The best non-basic programming book I have read. Atleast I found lots of new ideas / good ways to do things from that book which can be used in “normal” programming too.
Hmmm , all directions point toward that book. But you know … I would like more info if possible.Any mopre suggestions?Any books reviews?Or is this book something like the bible of game programming in Java?
Well I didn’t start with book at all. Rather I learned directly from tutorials, examples and so on. Web is full of them. Just want to point out that it is not neccecary to read a book, there are other resources, but it cant harm you if you do
Actaully i wouldnt really recomment that book in some ways as most of it is taken up with a 3d game engine, i would want something with more general 2d game stuff, amazon have lots.
