Hey everyone, what have you been up to?

You guys remember me right? I made quite a few games on here, than just vanished. Well I’ve been working in C++ mainly, and recently started developing for Wii homebrew. I dunno if you guys seen my last C++ game Fall or not even though I posted it on here. I’ve decided to take my life in another direction and become a network security kinda person. But until I get all that worked out I’ll be developing apps for the Wii. The worst thing about out growing java was losing this forum as a place I could post stuff, get comments, code help, and just chat with like minded people. Developing indie games at other places really blows because you have to compete with the Game Maker people, and they’re even more respected than the c++ coders of the indie community.

Anyway, what have all of you been up to lately?

My current projects are:
Still project manager of a Pokemon MMO, doing a little server programming for it which is in C++(horrible stuff :stuck_out_tongue: ).

Started on my old game project of mine called called Castors of Fate(online rpg) which is going quite well and hope to have a real demo out soon.

Only one reply…Ouch. Anyway, That sounds cool, zammbi. Good luck with Castors of Fate.

Professionally I work with JBoss and et al.
Privately my Child-Lib Son1.0 has recently reached iteration 3 and takes up a lot of my free time.
What ever time I have left basically goes into multiple things, either work related or screwing around with one thing or another.

At work: The usual boring stuff.
For fun: Still jPCT and jPCT-AE (with a little more focus on the latter lately) and a small game for Android:

Like OverKill, i’ve to maintain Son1.0 and Son2.0 in addition

Like EgonOlsen, @work, the usual tedious stuff.
@Home, Revenge of the Titans

Cas

Iv been porting my RTS over to an applet, in the process of creating an online wc3 style heroes multiplayer game.

Interesting that you decided to make games for the Wii. You finding it a challenge?

@EgonOlsen Wow that game looks really cool. 8)

@princec Oh my! That’s got to be the best tower defense game ever :o

@bobjob Well, I’m mainly using a SDL port, so it’s not that hard. The biggest hurtles were that I didn’t have the latest libs when I first started, and that caused me quite a bit of trouble, LoL. Right now I’m having quite the hard time trying to load .dol files and run them (The Wii version of a .exe) but I’m also thinking about porting over my last game Fall.

You were hoping for more than one reply after only 12 minutes?

I’ve been continuing work on Godfinger at ngmoco. And also I did a prototype for the Make 'Em Up competition. You can cross your fingers for me that I won, but I think it’s probably not the likeliest thing in the world (27 entrants). We’ll see.

I’m working on a Thrust / Gravity Force kind of clone using JOGL and Phys2d. It’s coming along well and hopefully I can release an alpha demo of it in the next few months.

Work sucks donkey balls thou. That’s where I get most of my cynicism regarding Javascript from. Those people who think it’s a great language clearly haven’t used it for anything large.

I’ve been very quiet in the forums lately… also not prgramming in home either, last thing I did was a litle tech for the Tiny competition.
I blame all this to my work :-.
Last week started a new design for a Tower Defense game.
I’ve wrote some pages on units, enemies, gameplay rules, attributes of entities, one or two state diagrams. Also, I’m designing (drawing) the units, to make the corresponding sprites.
A couple of friends are waiting to test it, so I’ll try to complete it.

Did not know you were at ngmoco. Know quite a few people there.

Yes indeedy. I’ve been here about 5 months now. You should PM me names then I can say hi for you.
