Helper looking for work!

Hello everybody,
My name is Paymon and I am 16. I am looking to go into Java programming I know basic amounts and was wondering if anyone was kind enough to let me ride with them and learn from them. I am not looking for much, maybe teach me a few things, point me in the right direction etc.
In return I can do small annoying jobs for you. I love graphics and I have a LOT of ideas. So yes I can help your game a lot.

Thank you: this is my msn paymans2005@yahoo.co.uk

Thanks again!!

I don’t want to offend you, but it’s probably going to be kind of hard to find what you’re looking for. Most people on forums are volunteering their spare time (on top of work and school and families and their own programming) to be here and help people, so they probably don’t have time to do one-on-one like that. And honestly, walking somebody through the process and then checking over their work will probably take a lot longer than just doing it alone. This is why people pay a lot of money to go to school or hire a private tutor.

That being said, I absolutely don’t want to discourage you from learning programming. I’d suggest you start with the basic tutorials and work through them. You can ask a question here anytime you get stuck.

Once you get through them (and honestly, that should probably take you weeks or months, not hours or days), you might start writing your own little programs- pong is a good first game. Then you can branch out into working with other novice programmers, if you really want to work on a team.

I hope this doesn’t offend or discourage you, but point you in a direction that’s more likely to help you learn programming.

Read some tutorials and try programming a very basic game like Pong

Over at JavaRanch, which is associated with “Head First Java” & “Head First Design Patterns,” they have a course of study. They call it the “Cattle Drive”.

It’s a series of programming assignments ranging from beginner stuff to database & servlets. Cost is $200, which is pretty inexpensive relatively, for the amount of coaching you get. If you sign up, believe me, you will get a LOT of nitpicking feedback. You will have to check your ego at the door. The code review is at a VERY critical level. I only got a little over half way through the first course before I decided to take a “hiatus”. But I did get some very valuable pointers. I’m thinking of restarting now that my temper has cooled off a bit…
