Help Me! I can't play 3D java games

Hey everyone,

didn’t know where to post this so here goes.
Every time i load up wurm or any other of the 3D java games i have in webstart, i get a message saying that there is an Open GL Driver Mismatch. It says that exit is the only option. I really want to play these games and any input would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Hauk

Does Super Elvis work?

Cas

Renew your graphiccards display driver, that should help in normally.

Y’know… it could be almost everything. Be specific.

a) What’s your operating system?
b) Java version?
c) graphic card?
d) Have you installed the latest (or pretty new) drivers?
e) Have you used a different graphic card in that machine before (together with that OS install)?
f) Do other 3d games work?
g) Do other OpenGL games work? (eg Quake3)
h) Who’s the vendor of your OpenGL drivers?
i) Which OpenGL version does the currently used driver support?

Sorry about the late reponse.

a) Windows 2000 Professional
b)1.4.2
c)nVidia GeForce 4
d)yes
e)no
f)yes, the elderscrolls:Morrowind and Unreal Tournament
g)tried megacore online, same pop up message
h)Don’t know that answer (examples??)
i)Please point me to the file where i can find out that information.

The Super Elvis page is down

Thanks for the help, sorry about not knowing the last two questions

Hauk

Sorry, typed the URL for Super Elvis wrong… click it again.

Cas

I ran super elvis, and what happened was that the resolution changed to something really bad with big blurred icons, and the message came up, so Super Elvis doesn’t work.

Sorry,

Hauk

how does Rimscape work for you?

h)Don’t know that answer (examples??)
i)Please point me to the file where i can find out that information.

h) is in my case “NVidia Corporation” (or so) and i) 1.3.

Those are things, which you can “ask” opengl from within your programm.

Well, the main purpose of the questions I’d asked was to provide an example for the kind information, which is needed for solving your problem.

Ok. It looks like your drivers are broken. You can try:

#1 Installing the latest drivers.

or

#2 Removing the currently used drivers via the software control panel. Reboot. Then install the latest drivers. Reboot.

or (if everything fails)

#3 Removing the currently used drivers with a specialized tool like detonator destroyer. Reboot. Then install the latest drivers. Reboot.

Ok I downloaded Rimscape, booted it and all i got was a white screen.

I’ll get the latest drivers for my gfx card, but i think it was the latest ones that caused the problems.

Cheers and much appreciated,

Hauk

Wild! Try it in windowed mode

My sincere apologies for leaving this topic up in the air :-[

I’ve started to get really angry with it not working, so I’m going to re-install the drivers.

If someone would like to guide me through it so I don’t make any mess ups that would be much appreciated.

Here’s a little info:

(i) My Drivers directory is C: Drivers/geForce
(ii) in that file theres an application named “44.03_win2kxp_international”
(iii) Theres a nVidia folder called 44.03 with a setup application if thats any help?

Ask me any questions if ur not sure and i’ll check my system

Thanks for the help,

Hauk

Thats an oooold driver.

Get the latest from http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp

Latest at time of writing is 66.93.
(/me realises his drivers are a tiny bit out of date ;P)

for XP/2K yeah thats the one you want.

Do I just download it and it will update my drivers or do I have to start messing around with hardware i.e monitors?

Cheers,

Hauk
