Hello!

I’m used to introducing myself each time I start a new forum, so I thought I’d do it here too, even thought it doesn’t seem to be done.

I’ve recently got back into Java after leaving it alone for over a year and working with php, which by the way deteriorated my programming ability, and now I’m back and truly loving it (I’m actually blogging about it here, cough shameless plug). I’m probably not at the level of making a game yet, but I’d really like to simply for the fact that due to it’s creative nature it looks fun!

I’m not really sure where I wills start, but I’ve read all the threads relevant to starting out on this forum and the wiki, so have a nice list of links to peruse this weekend! I’d like to make a game like one of those ones where you have waves of zombies coming at you and you just move left and right and shoot them, I have a good idea of how most of the classes will be, its graphics that puzzle me, but again my list of links will probably cover that.

So, yeah just thought that I would pop in and say hi before I went to bed after spending about and hour resubmitting the activation form then realising I had somehow changed a number in between working it out and typing it :cranky:

Well, hello there! I think introducing is nice.

You will find thousands of nice topics to learn, to be creative or/and to waste time with. I am currently learning GLSL shader stuff. Taking one step at a time. But it is so much fun. Pure awesome. g No really, I could spend all of my free time learning this stuff…

But it is not all about learning. So, have a nice time and enjoy game programming.

Haha, will do. It’s what I like to do, programming that is (and learning). I was talking to my friend in my computer science class, telling him about how I was programming a reverse polish notation calculator, to which he thought was incredibly boring and that I should have chosen a more fun project. I just replied with “this is a good learning project, and besides I like it, it’ programming!”. He just couldn’t get it xD

I’m glad I joined up before the current activation form was put in place. I keep hearing stories about it being pretty tough.

I got my start here by posting an applet captcha that displayed letters via XOR mode (animated) on a random b&w field–thus invisible via a screen shot. But it was cracked within a matter of hours.

Now that you are in, welcome! Lot’s of great resources and helpful people here. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with!
