Hello

Didn’t see a board for introductions (or a rules post saying no introductions allowed), so I’m just going to tell you a little bit about myself. I am driven here as I recently started developing a game idea that I had, its only on the drawing board and I’ve only written a little code, however I plan to take it all the way. I love this forum also, I am a big fan of SMF, and was pleased to see when I clicked this link and saw it wasn’t vBulliten, or some other software, so anyways, whats up?

Also, thanks for making me feel retarded on the verification page -_-.

Hey Tyb97 and welcome to JGO!

You’re completely fine with posting an introduction thread in here.

Oh and SMF may ‘look’ pretty but according to our awesome cute fluffy overlord, Riven, it sucks ass.

And feeling retarded is a good thing…you can only get better ;D

Welcome to the forum.

Welcome!

I don’t think there’s a single forum that even looks pretty. To me, they’re full of annoying clutter and UI noise. WordPress, although it too is based on some really brain dead code, is more the aesthetic I go for.

And if you remove anything of this visual clutter, sproingie will go after you, claiming the ‘article’ stylesheet is bad :point:

Yes, there is such a thing as removing too much.

Welcome

singing Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeelcome!

Yeah, that beginning quiz… It was pretty fun wasn’t it? Welcome.

I’ve ran forums with vBulliten, SMF, and myPHBB or w/e its called, I prefer SMF over all.

About the beginning quiz, I threw it into eclipse, and almost cried when I saw the answer…

Am I the only one who just guessed after I got the first one? :stuck_out_tongue:

Excellent! That means it filters out unlucky people and quitters, too.

Cas

Well, that’s just dandy. If someone wants to join the community it isn’t harder than they’ll make it eventually.

My fancy quiz allows exactly those who I think can contribute to the community. It’s supposed to be humorous as well, although YMMV. I’d hate to be the (sole) cause of screams of agony for our fledging members of this beloved community, but I’m not gonna change anything.

I actually tried solving that equation in my head. Then, as always I let eclipse make everything easy for me lol

I just laughed back there  until now I still can’t answer that question without compiler.

Hehehehehe…

I solved that quiz on iOS!

I had to open the verification page in safari and an online java ‘simulator’ (can’t think of the right word) in Chrome for iOS.
Then safari crashed, but I worked it out

I’d like to know how the second question ‘always works’

I bruteforced all possible solutions (that took about 20 minutes on my quadcore). Then I generated a PHP file with all the answers in an array, and I pick one solution to fill the blanks in the code snippet.

The wording in the question is a bit tricky, giving you the illusion that you should be able to figure this out. This is done so spammers don’t run off to the first online java compiler/executor. I expected, however, that any Java programmer would immediately realize that they wouldn’t stand a chance at solving this in their heads…
