Gumblocks4k

Two brand-new versions at once:

EDIT: Speed increasing faster now (new level every 500 points instead of every 1000 points, in this version).

What’s new:
Added a ball that you cannot hit. Made playing area slightly bigger. In version two, the ball has constant speed while in version three the speed is increasing with time. Also, in version three you do no longer have to make the squares stay within the area - they bounce all by themselves, making the ball the only enemy. Both versions are around 3kb uncompressed, so there’s still loads and loads of room for improvements.

Well, I was really bored, so I decided to make a tiny game again :>
This one is sort of silly, and it’s just 2.8k without any optimization whatsoever, so… I could either give it tons of improvements, or I could simply not work more on it, and make something real instead

Sort of the same idea as my Clickrisk from last year, only a slightly different approach. Click on the blocks to keep them within the area. Here goes:

You’re on your 2nd game already ;D Graphics are smooth. Needs a bit more gameplay (or a flashy gimic). Maybe click on the blocks in a certain order for extra points. or something.

 That’s a very simple idea, but also lots of fun! Very stressful near the end! I was clicking like a mad man!

Well, while it is true that it’s my second entry, I still consider Freefall4k my current “main entry”, that is, the one I want to enhance and work on. Hopefully, though, I’ll get ideas enough to fill up the space soon, so that I can start on a new main one

Ehm… I agree that I need to do something more if I want this to be any fun. As it is now, it’s just something I didn’t in short time and without much thinking ahead, etc. No images, for example… with this much space (1.7 kb left when compressed) I could turn this into a graphical masterpiece! (haha, just kidding).

cborders: I love your avatar! What is that?

It’s a manipulated photo of an eye that I got from deviantart.com. It was meant to me a wallpaper, but I thought that was too much! They have a lot of very cool things there!

Agreed, although I prefer GFXartist.com since it’s far easier to navigate. Deviantart is all messed up when it comes to navigation, it’s not at all obvious how one’s supposed to find stuff

This would make a good entry in the ‘1 button 1 week’ contest… Some music could be added to build atmosphere since you have so much room left. That is if your still improving it.

Two brand-new, sparkling versions with changed gameplay are up. Both have a slightly different approach than the first version, hopefully making them better. Not sure if I have room for music though, since I can’t use midi. If I could use midi files, I’d have great custom-made music from one of my friends in the game

Hmm perhaps the block and ball shouldn’t speed up at the same rate. For a while it looked like I managed to get them bouncing without needing any clicking. I got to level 21 (10102 points) before it eventually collided. But from level 9 on I didn’t have to do anything.

Hmm, I never tried that. Okay, I’ll make slight adjustments to the speed increments later. Thanks.
