GTG Update - March 27

Well all,

Just a quick update here (sorry its a day late, I finally got some sleep:)

GDC was an AMAZING event for Sun and Java technology. Scott McNealy even made an apperance and was thrilled with how far we have come in driving Java technology visibility in the games industry. We were absolutely swamped with attendees and had quite a few major development houses wanting to know MORE about how Java technology may be used in their future products.

Also, the game server prototype was extremely well received. In fact, news of this got around so quickly that I was rushed off to do a live interview on CNBC with regard to it. The games world is listening and I really believe that we are at the “bit-flip” point in time when we will start to see a move towards Java and away from C++. Not immediately, but the movement is happening.

Again, a huge thanks to this community for your support and contribution. I will try and post pictures form the conference over the next few days for you.

Cheers!

P.S. FYI, here is the press statistics from the show:

  • 24 stories, including 12 articles, syndication on 11 Websites, and broadcast on CNBC. Articles appeared in top venues such as San Jose Mercury News, Reuters, CNET and Wired.

  • 14 briefings and pre-briefings including the Associated Press, CNBC, CNET, CNNfn, MTV, Newsweek, Reuters and the San Jose Mercury News.

  • Interview on CNBC’s Bullseye show for a expert panel discussion included Chris Melissinos from Sun, an editor from the WSJ, an editor for Electronic Gaming Monthly, an analyst from In-Stat and a VP from Microsoft.

If you have any CDs left over I got dibs on one

Oh, yeah, me too! :). But…I get the impression they ran out ;D

Me 3 ;D

I’d like one as well, if there are any left.

If not, how about a link and/or Torrent to an ISO?

We had a second batch done, so plenty to go around. Send mailing information to chris@java-gaming.org and we’ll get them out shortly.

Thanks!

Why don’t you host em on a site?

what about people who travel a lot and it would be much easier to just download a cd image.

for example: i haven’t been at home for 2 months now and probably wont be in another 3 months, due to work/school shit.

You can’t please everyone every time.

Don’t you have a mailing address where you are? Are you really moving around that much?

true.but in this case, its nothing more than uploading iso image to server and linking it to somewhere.

but the reason for this is that they made too many copies for it and now they need to get rid of them.
