GTG Update - March 12

Well, well, well. It’s that time of the week again! We have been CRANKIN! to get to GDC. I pulled a 40+ hour stretch (LOTS of Diet Cherry Coke) to finalize the CD content and it is off to the reproduction house! As mentioned before, I will send them to anyone who asks for one, as long as we have extras…AFTER GDC. Also, we will see about putting the cd image on Java.Net for download.

So, what to tell you? Ok, we did the navigation for the CD rom and it has a load of cool stuff. Here is a screen shot:

There has been a tremendous effort put forth by the GTG and other external folks to make this a successful event for Sun and Java technologies! Special thanks goes out to the Bawls company and Chris from Arockalypse. The show is going to rock!

As for some other news, you may have seen some articles recently about the GTG hit the web. Also, we now have a page off of Sun’s main website http://www.sun.com/gametech. So the visibility is growing folks!

Ok, another tid bit for GDC. Here is the layout of our booth:

And last but not least! Dust off your keyboards folks and crack open the caffene. Something you have been asking us to do WILL BE STARTING at GDC

Until next week,

ChrisM

FYI, I know the folks at summitsoccer.co.uk have seen a recent jump in referrals from the JGO front page - I’m guessing this new entry point is the cause.

That and we get a ton of hits on our site as well

:). Sure. I meant, compared to the normal level of through-traffic. Apparently there was an obvious jump in the referrer stats this week (enough so that it was mentioned in an email). I don’t know which day, but based on the sun datestamp I’d make an educated guess for the 9th March

PS Chris: since you’ve done some work on formatting, arranging, and documenting (I see paragraph descriptions in that screenshot :)) games for this CD, is the mooted “java games site” about to appear?

And if not, can I merge that data from the CD into the games pages I’ve been maintaining? If you want, I’m happy to re-skin it to mesh more cleanly (e.g. by changing the colour scheme) with your existing data on the CD.

Thanks for the offer. Unfortunately, I have permission from the artists to use the graphics for this event is all. However, the formatting and style is sound, so perhaps we can skin it.

Yeah, I guessed the artwork would be reserved for GDC only.

The skin on the pages (all using stylesheets) at the moment is just something knocked up in (literally) 5 minutes, so I’m really happy to replace it :).
