;D My next project is finally being completed!
Gold Miner is here and is my first “real” java game!
You are a Gold Miner lost in a cave trying to defeat the enemies and creatures to escape!
But you need to collect the gold to ensure your family’s survival!

Known Bugs and Errors:
When falling off map game crashes.
No enemies yet.
Shooting doesn’t work.

It is interesting and not to be bashed to harshly as it is obviously very early in development and I assuming it is your first proper game, judging by your website, but there is definite room for improvement like the graphics look kind of like paint :smiley: and the collision detection is a little off.

Yet I do wait to see where you take this and wish you the best of luck.

Well got that one bug fixed in Pre Release 2 It was some thread concurrency issue where i had to put most of the “stuff” on the main menu game thread. ;D And yes i notice the collision is a little off Hmm… i think its something with the player width and height or the tile width/height will look at it!

Thanks ;D, Im sorry about the graphics though our graphic artist has been busy for the past few weeks and I am not very good at graphics xD

I played the game and I must say that I had a fair bit of fun with it. There are some collision problems on the corners of blocks but I will look pass that since it’s so early in development. One thing that does worry me a bit it your FPS counter. For me it read 16 fps the whole time I played. It didn’t really feel like 16 fps but I should not get anywhere near that on my machine. Other than that stuff, the game look pretty good so far.

Lol it is actually pretty good, major collision problems with the corner of blocks though but the downside is the graphics, they are pretty bad lol, but that’s ok, it runs without crashing and runs smooth so that is all that matters,

What you got planned for it?

Yeah, I am working on fixing the collision and definitely the graphics are gonna be updated (They are going to keep their pixel-like form because it is based off of the NES game Spelunker if you’ve ever heard of it) but more enemies and levels. I am thinking of adding bosses but probably not until 1.1 well I’ll see how far I can get with this :slight_smile:

is the punch/shoot not implemented? or are the keys not working?
going back to the first level when you die makes it a bit discouraging to keep exploring.

yeah, I left out a lot of bugs but the gun and punch are implemented the controls are x and z for them I changed them at the last minute in pre2 so when Alpha 1.0.0 is out the help screen will be redone. As for the going back to the first level when you die… the way my game is set up I would have to create multiple death screens to go back to the level you died in. But, I will look in to it! :wink:

Back ontopic: keep up the progress! Graphics work can always be deferred.

@SwordsMiner: that’s a perfectly valid point you’ve made, but I wouldn’t go so far as to say that he thinks everybody cares. Why else would you put a project up on here if not for exposure? Whoever likes it will like it, and for them the website might be a great way for them to constantly follow and stay updated with any developments.

@SwordsMiner Ok, I see your point, but if I was acting like I’m famous I am sorry, I really didn’t mean to act that way. And I am not a kid necessarily. Technically speaking I am a teenager, 13 years old turning 14 years old very soon. But I made the website just for people (friends, people that care about the game, etc.) to check for updates, if I actually thought I was famous I would pay for a website with a custom domain (ex: www.THISISAGAMESITE.com) but I am sorry if I acted like a little kid who thinks he is famous.
