gimp 2.0

In case anyone missed it. Gimp 2.0 is now also available for windows.

Prebuild binaries + installer can be optained here:

This version is a lot less buggy, for me anyway, than the 1.x series. I have not had any problems yet.

Warning - requires powerful machine! ::slight_smile:

On the whole the 2.0 release performs a lot faster than the betas, but a lot slower than the previous stable (1.2). However, the UI improvements alone make it worthwhile.

Have they finally got rid of the moronic “everything is floating as a separate window, and no global file menu” etc? That would definitely make it worth upgrading

EDIT: I have looked through the PDF describing the differences, but it’s not clear how the new UI works. It still sounds rather space-agey and unintuitive, although I note that some basic requirements of GUI are now honoured - like “by default, it doesn’t reassign shortcuts just because you accidentally pressed a key”.
