Game Programmers - contract basis or profit share

Hello,

We are looking for experienced Java game developers to create quality multiplayer games for http://oneplay.com

Games will be developed using our proprietory multiplayer games development framework so no networking skills are required.
The framework is designed to make life as easy as possible when developing multiplayer games.

We have a large number of games designed ready for development which vary in complexity, most 2D some 3D.
We’ll also consider any other games you may have already developed or partially developed which you’d like to integrate into the framework.

The games will be made available for cash play, where players can play against others for a cash prize.
The terms and payment for games is negotiable, as either a single payment or profit share agreement, or combination of the two.

The single payment for the games will vary depending on your experience and the complexity of the game, but as we are a start up with limited funds its unlikely to be more than $1000 per game.
We appreciate this may not be sufficent for everybody.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years Java development experience
  • You write quality, readable, object orientated, bug free code
  • Interest in games with an ability to show initiative in solving problems

If you are interested send me an email to james@oneplay.com with relevant information about yourself and some examples of your work if possible.

Any questions that you feel will be relevant to everyone, please post them to this forum and I’ll be happy to answer them.

best wishes

James

No one writes bug free code. You can try zero bug development, code audits, tools like find bugs and beta testing, but that’s about it. A bug may or may not appear some days later.

Can we see one or more of these game design documents? (Maybe from already finished titles)

Which Java version is used? 1.4.x? Webstart or Applets?

What about art? Is the art already done (as a part of the design)? Do we get an artist or would we need to care about art by ourselfes?

Are you interested in this game?

(It’s just a skeleton renderer right now, but I could make a game out of it within some days. The quality of the board’s antialiasing could be improved and phong-ish highlights are missing. Btw that thing is <8kb right now [images included].)

Btw you shouldn’t call your Tetris alike game tris. The Tetris Corp might sue you (and they will win).

I wondered if anyone would pick me up on this
Of course nobody writes code that’s completely bug free, but some people write code thats much better than others. It was simply meant as a crude way of trying to pick those people out from others.

No, simply because up until now most games have been based on a fairly loose specification as we’ve had a good working relationship with the developers
who have given their own input into the games during development.
For developers we’ve not worked with before we’ll provide a very precice specification. This would obviously be agreed upon before begining development of a game.
I’m happy to use a 3rd party escrow and arbitration mechanism such as www.rentacoder.com if desired.

1.4.2 applets

Whatever you are happpy with. Some developers are able to do the artwork themself, others aren’t in which case we we’ll provide you with the graphics or an artist you can work with.

Not really, I’m looking for original games of your own design or one of the games we already have planned for development.

Thanks for the warning, we’ll rename it.

Hello,

I have a game that I’ve been working on,
http://www.myjavaserver.com/~onchaos/

I was wandering if thats something you might consider,
your site seems to have ‘purely’ arcade games…
thanks
