fuzetsu gains notable popularity during August

earlier this summer, oNyx’s fuzetsu was featured on various indie gaming blogs, including JayIsGames. however, august is a very notable month for fuzetsu! check it out…

in the month of august alone, javaunlimited.net received 1,496 link referrals to fuzetsu from Good Experience Games, which describe the game as “elegant, beautiful, and fun.”

also in august javaunlimited.net received 503 fuzetsu hits from perere.org (french site) which describes the game as “original and funny” (rough translation).

fuzetsu, now at 10,294 downloads on javaunlimited.net, has become the 2nd most downloaded game on the site, and appears to be the only competitor to Markus’ Miners4K. Though Miners4K has ~4x times the downloads as fuzetsu, fuzetsu is the only close competitor that still receives hits daily, something not even Miners4K can boast.

it will be interesting to see who becomes the next most downloaded game. will it be an entry from the upcoming 4K contest this winter? will it be another Markus entry that takes even MORE downloads? Markus did beat his own record download count last year, which at that time had both of his earlier 4K games at the top 1 & 2 download spots.

In other trivia, fuzetsu…

  • is 1 of 14 games from 4K 2006 that does not use the cliché “4K” in its title.
  • is the only 4K game that relies on only 1 source of input: mouse movement
  • is the only 4K game with particle-based gameplay

fuzetsu is another game thats giving java some good reviews. if you hadn’t noticed, Great Experience Games and JayIsGames focus primarily on Flash games, but made the exception on fuzetsu! cool stuff oNyx

let’s not forget this very impressive game is a mere 4K in size…

Yay fuzetsu!

(although, Miners4k has been playable directly on the pepere site for quite some time now. I think that’s one of the reasons the play count on your site isn’t increasing as fast as it used to.)

Well, that page says miners4k has got 92,000+ views soooo… looks like pepere has been saving you some bandwidth!

;D/

Locally it got somewhat over 25k hits, because the redirector wasnt used everywhere. In retrospect it was a silly thing to do, because I didnt fully utilize that odd popularity effect, which is pretty much like… its easier for popular things to become more popular. Its basically some acceleration factor which is a result of human lazyness. Most people only check the more popular stuff, because it should be better, right? (This is how chart music works, too.)

Thehe over at pepere it sounds like I’m japanese  (I’m german.)

Btw fuzetsu was also featured over at…

And a bunch of forums…

I’ve been very happy with all that exposure and the cubic sh*tload of positive comments.

Hmmhmm. I wish to file a complaint!

What is this I hear about fuzetsu being the only game that relies only on one source of input? I suggest having a look at all the games before speaking (hint: Freefall4k uses only the “Space” key).

Very interesting read, great to see the games are still doing well!

believe it or not, I did look over the games, in particular, Freefall4K [cuz I remembered the gameplay]. However, from the game description:

"Fast-paced one-button game. Your goal is to hit as many clouds as possible (maximum score is 30). Use the spacebar to go left. The only way to reach the rightmost clouds is to go left at a high velocity and bounce off the wall.

There are two types of clouds - the bigger ones, that gives you a more powerful upwards boost, and the smaller once, that are more elastic (hence letting you bounce better - aim for these when falling from far above).

“N” restarts the game.

Have fun! :)"

fuzetsu has “click to start”

close enough, doesnt require you to move your fingers anywhere

Hey Onyx

Great and addictive game, I have a technical question...
How do you make your animated cursor??
a gif(animated)??
setCursor(...) on each frame??

Rafael.-

Empty (manually cleared) image for the cursor and just drawImage. A real cursor wasnt an option, because it had to be below the bullets.

fuzetsu yeah that one was def. in my top3
